Mix vs. Match

The good news is, mixed prints is still hotter than hot this season! The bad news is, I am still not very good at it. Ah, Virgo problems. But the allure of this signature is too strong to resist, so I shall make it work. And then, these beauties breezed into my life, as though sent by the goddess of pattern mixing herself. Tada, meet the “Seanne” wedge bootie from 80%20! What a perfect baby step (PUNS!) to mix my prints up!
And lucky me, I would be able to also take these pony-haired stunners and make them the star of the show also. Take a look:

Look one: Full on stripes (done in similar shades as the booties) are an easy way to mix prints— there’s nothing else to worry about pairing, since a dress is your top and bottom. Knowing myself, I would still add a solid vest or cropped jacket on top to help break it up on top. Hey, it’s hard mixing prints okay? Adding a bright-colored bag (this one is Shiraleah) and some subtle jewelry brings everything back into balance.
But then again, there’s something to be said for a simple, monochrome outfit that will let the shoes shine, so to speak. How about a  utilitarian romper- in black, naturally- paired with a none-more-black leather jacket. But you don’t think I’d run off without sneaking a print into this look too, didja? C’mon, we’re on a mission here! I added a portfolio clutch from seaecho into the mix and topped this look off with some simple jewelry from Stone & Honey that incorporate the triangle shape. Now, that wasn’t too hard!

Are you a mix master? Or a matcher manager? We wanna hear from you!

xoxo,
Sally
