Add a Little Texture!
When I saw these Nino Bossi purses I knew I was in handbag heaven. They are just that delicious!
The texture is what speaks to me the most, I am a sucker for textured leather bags as I am sure some of you are as well!

The small size is perfect for a dainty little wallet. Like the textured Iris or Lucy wallet from Hobo.
Betsy and Iya also makes some lovely geometric earrings that would be the perfect compliment to these tooled leather bags, dontcha think?
Stay EXCITING Portland,
Marika!

Happy new year!
For those among us who consider what you end up wearing to celebrate new year’s eve as important (or more so) than what you do to celebrate, this one is for you. If you are heading to a fancy pants event to ring in 2012 (it sounds so futuristic, doesn’t it?) here’s a suggestion for ya:
Leather “Lauren” clutch by Hobo, metallic retro “Priscilla Renee” heels (also available in black) from Indigo, big ole’ chain necklace from Zoë Chicco, mixed metal dangly earrings by Betsy + Iya.
This outfit is easily put together, so you can spend the night dancing and schmoozing instead of fussing. Now doesn’t that sound like an idea you can get behind? Let the clothes speak for themselves, and go dance the night away!
Come back tomorrow for another stylish idea for the new year.

1 boot, 4 ways (way 2)
Last time we talked about the Tsubo “Osuga,” I showed you one way to wear them to work. And if you want to wear them for play? Next time you head out to meet your friends for drinks, try pairing these simple stunners with your comfiest skinny jeans tucked in or your boot cut jeans over the top, a girly blouse, your favorite clutch (this one’s from Hobo,) and a pile on your favorite earrings (the birds are from Daphne & Olive and the leaves are from Towne & Reese.)
Tip: If you do opt for skinny jeans, tuck them into your socks to prevent bunching at the ankle. Yes, this will look incredibly dorky. But you’re the only one who will see.

Have fun at girl’s night!

Sally
Shake Your (Ankle) Bootie
If you can even believe it, Portland, we’re already starting to get in our fall shoes. It seems kind of unfair, right? We haven’t even had our summer yet! But luckily what comes in first are those amazing transitional items, the ones that can help you make the move from summer into fall days with a quick costume change. For example, we just got in these superfly cognac colored ankle booties from Biviel (BV3151.)

One of the greatest things about ankle booties is that they look great with bare legs. See, if you busted these babies out now, it would be as easy as throwing on a tank dress, a couple of layered necklaces (these are both from Betsy + Iya,) a straw fedora (this topper is from Goorin Bros,) and a crossbody bag (the Full Swing bucket bag from Hobo.) Slap on some sunglasses and sunscreen and you’re ready to strut!

And as the temperatures drop, the proportions of these boots make them the perfect match for your favorite skinny jeans, comfy tee, and chunky knit cardigan (belt at the waist if you’re feeling frumpy.) Add a big shoulder bag (come late September, it’s time to start lugging an umbrella and other cold weather accouterments everwhere! This one is by Chocolat Blu.) plus a sweetly printed scarf (this antique scissor print one is from Snoozer Loser NYC,) and a delicate necklace or two (Morse code necklaces are from Coatt, and we can special order personalized messages!)
Now, doesn’t that just warm you right up?

Sally
Feelin’ Taupe-y
We’ve all heard it before (and believe me, I have said it, in seriousness and in jest.) “___________ is the new black.” Well guess what, kiddos? Taupe is the new nude. You will see it everywhere this Spring. Taupe, for those of you who didn’t spend your childhood with their nose buried in the crayon box, is a subtle combo of cream, beige, gray and pink… Kinda. Okay, so it’s hard to pin down, which is why I made this handy pictorial:

Yes, I think taupe and I will get along just fine. It’s such a rich shade that is universally flattering (for lighter skin tones, find a taupe with more gray and brown in it, and get lighter and pinker the darker your complexion is.)
Between Mani and pedX, all of these items are available in store, so come check out the new go-to shade for yourself!
We just got these classic Camper boots in yesterday and, as always, I immediately thought, “How would I wear these?” I think this whether the shoes are my style or not, but let me tell ya, these boots are everyone’s style! How could they not be? They’re black, not too shiny, low maintenance, flat… Oh, how I do go on. These boots can easily be adapted as an everyday boot in anyone’s wardrobe. Couldn’t you just see them with classic equestrian styles, all tweed and preppy? Or with a leather bomber jacket and your tightest jeans? Or with a printed cotton day dress?
Well, I digress… I know that I would be tickled to wear them with some great-fitting skinny jeans, an oversized stripey menswear style top, and a few well-placed accessories including a stack of extra-jangly bangle bracelets, a classic leather belt, and an extra bright Hobo bag to add a pop of color.
How would you wear them?
