Wedding Season: The Bride
The tasks of the modern bride seem never ending, so much planning prepping and pampering to get ready for that special day. One thing that seems to get less attention and often is an afterthought is the shoes.
To me this is the most offensive crime a bride could commit…well, maybe not the most offensive but it is definitely up there. The shoes should come second to the dress, for the sheer fact that they are shoes (and in my opinion the best or in some people’s case the worst part of any outfit.) These are the shoes that you will be wearing all day, and hopefully well into the night while you are dancing away in celebration of your new union.
Since comfort is crucial, by all means DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT all of a sudden step out of your normal comfort zone and wear a heel height or shoe style that you would not normally wear. That is a recipe for misery and possibly you falling on your face (think Charlotte from Sex in the City when she wed Harry, luckily he caught her!)

A few helpful shopping tips:
- Bring a picture of your dress, or a fabric swatch with you when you shop so that you know they match.
- Practice walking and dancing in the shoes before you make your purchase.
- Comfort and style can coexist!
- A pop of color (your wedding colors or something that compliments the dress) is appropriate, fun and will add some fresh perspective to your wedding day look.
- Do not let anyone talk you into or out of a purchase. This is your day, you should pick your outfit!

sock it to me.
If you’ve learned one thing from this blog, I want it be that I am a huge supporter of making socks a part of the outfit. Specifically, I like wearing a fashionable sandal with a great sock. I know I’m not alone (right? … right?!)
Even as the temperature rises, I find myself wearing lightweight socks (Happy Socks are perfect for this!) with my lil Summer sundresses. As one final bit of inspiration, I stumbled across this photo while “window” shopping on the Revu. website:
How cute and Summer ready does she look? Love the chunky sandal with a plain sock, complimenting the dress and adding a special touch to a simple outfit.
Check out a few similar styles that we have at Manifesto:
(L-R: BV3122 by Biviel, “Grass” by Esska, #985 by Antelope)
And a few at pedX that fit the bill too:
(L-R: :Brave” by Gee WaWa, “Spano” by Gentle Souls, “Rachel” by Camper)
So next time you need to spice up your fave sundress, try layering a sock underneath your stylish sandal! But there are some rules to follow, as always.
1. This is not to be done with any sort of thong sandal. No, no, no!
2. This look works best with a simple sandal, a simple (as in one color) sock, or both if you’re just testing the waters.
3. Keep it in the same color family. Or, try a neutral shoe (tan, taupe, black, etc.) so you can get a little wild with the sock, or vice versa.
Have fun playing around, and let us know what you think on facebook!xoxo,

Polish it off (Part 2)
Sun, I welcome you with open arms and naked feet! As long as you are out, my toes will be too. As such, a pedicure was in order, and I know I’m not the only one! That salon was packed, lemme tell ya! So do you opt for a classic shade for your hooves, or go a little more bold and edgy? Check out a few of my suggestions:
If you’re a more tradition gal, go for something girly and cheerful, like this punchy pink. If you’re looking to make a more bold statement, try pairing this sunny yellow shoe (“Spano” by Gentle Souls) with a cool, fun color like this robin’s egg blue.
Which would you choose?
New from Gentle Souls by Kenneth Cole: “Spano.” As comfy and cute as they look!
