something with a little less height
I am a NOTORIOUS heel wearer. No matter the weather or garment, I WEAR HEELS and not only that but the HIGHER THE BETTER.
However, that was until I fell literally head of heels for this amazing little black leather sandal by Fiel.
It’s like a little black dress for your feet OR the perfect heel alternative. It looks fantastic laced up the ankle with skirts and shorts and absolutely adorable with ankle-skimming jeans. I honestly cannot wait to wear them to beach and not to have to worry about sinking in the sand or throwing my heels in my bag and going barefoot.

A Guide on How to Keep Warm and Look Cute While Doing It
It’s winter, and although it hasn’t been a typical wet northwest winter, it has been chilly!
I’ve been trying my hardest to think warm thoughts but at some point I’m going to have to concede to the weather and cover my head and I want to look good doing it.

When that time comes, and I buckle down, I’m going to reach for the tried and true Coal Toque ($19 - $39). A staple I should have introduced long ago in to my wardrobe and one that I am looking forward to sporting no matter the weather!

Platform, the new form.
For every legitimate style blog I stalk, I can’t help but notice the large amount of “platform flats.” At first, I thought they were too chunky and kind of obnoxious but my god, I’ve woken up. The height adds depth to any outfit, drab or not…and in my opinion, chunky can be marvelous. I love adding weight to the bottom of any look- whether it be a large cuff, thick soled boots, or now, the platform flat. If you’re like me, who won’t be seen dead in the most uncomfortably trendy pair of stilettos…the platform is my next best bet. They’re sassy but still “edgy,” (although I hate using that word). Amanda Merten of the unbeatable Backyard Bill, (take note, another fantastic street/life-style blog) shows off some yummy platforms in the bottom photo of her spread, for instance. Our Antelope 744 Platform Flats do the style mad justice…and they’re incredibly COMFORTABLE as well- Come try them on for yourself.

Shoe-light: The High Life

I was pokin’ around my favorite street style site, Street Peeper, and ran across my friend Cassi who was shot by Phil Oh of the site, in a beautiful Henrik Vibskov dress and Bernhard Willhelm shoes.
Her look is impeccable- and it inspired me to want to dress around my shoes. To have the focal point be the shoes, and dress around them accordingly.
Here, at Manifesto, we have our fair share of colorful, “highlight-able” shoes to be dressed around! These lovely Chie Mihara’s are just one of the many pairs we carry that would be perfect for a simple outfit; showing off the amazing detail and awesome mustard color of the straps, not to mention the undeniable comfort of these babies.
What would you wear with these cute thangs?

Colors have a wonderful impact on our mood. And what better way to color our day than with our socks. The following is a loose guide on how your crazy-socks can inspire you!

Pink, Rose, or Red socks are worn to attract love and romance!
Orange socks will influence you to feel warmth, a positive thing on cold wet winter days!

In Defense of the Man Bag.
Ok, you dashing, dapper dudes. What gives? I have been peeking at men’s street style blogs lately, and the man bag is becoming more and more prevalent. Everywhere except Portland, that is. Where do you all keep your stuff? Don’t you feel the need for something to pull your outfit together? I’ll spare you the diatribe about gender stereotypes and just let you know that resistance is futile. Man bags are cool and practical, it just depends on how you style them. So ditch the ratty canvas backpack or the stodgy briefcase, there are so many more options available to you now!
See?

There’s a vast array of styles for you to choose from and, as always, Manifesto has your back. (Shown left, Simple, right, Dean Accessories. But there are so many more in stock! Come see!)
And if you’re still out there giving me the side eye, here’s a few examples of them being worn:

So stop in today for a lesson on man bags… If only you already had a place to keep the textbook!
