The Well Shod Man
“The man whose feet are well shod fears no ways, but goes through thick and thin, foul or fair, stones or straws … while the barefooted man, or slenderly shoed, shrinks when he feels the wet, and shrieks when he lights on a sharp stone.” - William Gurnall
There are many adages about women and their shoes, and the fellows need to come into the light and understand, no, experience this obsession. A stylish shoe is ever so important, and can offer a glimpse into one’s personality. They instil confidence and panache, not to mention demonstrate your feet are both grounded and going places.
1: “Troop,” J Shoes. 2: Neck tie, Pierrpont Hicks. 3. “Smithson” bag, Wheelmen & Co. 4. “Watch,” Cydwoq.

A week’s worth of giving: Dad’s Day
Hello, and welcome to the second installment of my ultimate, last minute, way-too-specific gift guide! Let’s talk dads- or, way-too-specifically, Cool “for a Dad” Dads. The not overly cool Dad, the trying to be cool Dad… but he doesn’t wear socks with sandals, either. My dad wears socks with sandals, so my only point of reference is movies. The Cool “for a Dad” Dad shall be played by Hugh Grant. Or maybe Jon Hamm. Here’s a few items that will surely put him in the cooler corner.
Cool “for a Dad” DadTop to bottom: “Arnald” work bag, Property Of, $256 @ Manifesto; shoe care products, Otter Wax (made locally!) between $9-$20 @ Manifesto; ties, Pierrepont Hicks, between $82-$120 @ Manifesto.
Also good gifts for: Your aunt’s second husband, cool “for a boss” boss.
Fun idea: to win points with the father figure type guy in your life, never hesitate to get a little sappy. You’d be surprised how far a sappy card telling them how much you respect them will go.
Until next time!
xoxo,
Sally
